A RARE OCCURRENCE OUTSIDE OF LAS VEGAS AS FIREKEEPERS CANCEL A $1 MILLION GUARANTEE

With a $2.3 million prize pool, a Michigan poker club defeated the $1 million guarantee. The four-day Mid-States Poker Tour event at FireKeepers Casino Hotel drew 2,409 players, making it the largest poker tournament in Michigan.

On the Mid-States Poker Tour, the Michigan State Poker Championship set a new Midwest record. The winner, Matthew Davis, took home more than $300,000.

Additional 251 winners received payouts as well. The significant attendance elevated FireKeepers to the top poker rooms in Michigan.

TWO SUCCESSES IN A ROW
This was not the first time FireKeepers failed to meet their prize pool commitment. In May, the poker room hosted another event with a $2.2 million prize pool. The original guarantee from the operator was $1 million.

The tournament received 2330 participants, with the Mid-States Poker Tour Main Event No. 195 taking place between May 12 and May 15. Daniel Bekavac of Chicago won the title and took home more than $250,000.

Daniel won his fourth Mid-State Poker Tour victory. Daniel also competed in the Michigan State Poker Championship, placing 44th and won more than $6,700. The event produced $122,851 more than the No.195 in the Main Event.

The poker manager at FireKeepers verified that the casino’s Team Members’ devotion to guest service, together with the Mid-State Poker Tour, resulted in record-breaking attendance and prize pool. Kelly Bailey said that those participating improved with each performance, motivating participants to return for more. Kelly was looking forward to the next big competitions.

The Vice President of Marketing at FireKeepers had intended to shatter the prize pool just before the Michigan State Poker Championship. According to Jim Wise of Michigan Gaming Review, FireKeepers aimed to surpass the $2.2 million prize pool established in Main Event No.195.

BREAKING GUARANTEE OUTSIDE IS VERY RARE. IN LAS VEGAS
Since its inception in August 2019, FireKeepers has held 15 Mid-State Poker Tour events. The Mid-State Poker Tour has held 203 tournaments.

FireKeepers is situated halfway between Detroit and Chicago. It is located along Interstate 94 near Battle Creek, Michigan. One of the reasons for its success is because of this.

During four distinct events, the Mid-State Poker Tour featured a $1 million prize pool at FireKeepers. Outside of Las Vegas, hardly many poker companies provide a $1 million guarantee.

Only at The Venetian in Las Vegas did the Mid-State Poker Tour offer a $1 million guarantee prize pool. The Venetian has hosted the Mid-State Poker Tour 17 times, with each event guaranteeing over $1 million.

In 2013, FireKeepers held the inaugural Mid-State Poker Tour. The first guarantee was $100,000, increasing to $200,000 the next year and $300,000 in 2016. In 2019, this abruptly raised to $1 million.

Since 2013, the casino has sponsored two Mid-State Poker Tour tournaments each year. Except for 2013, when they were held in March and August, they were slated for May and October.

Unfortunately, due to the development of the Coronavirus epidemic, FireKeepers did not hold any poker tour events in 2020 or 2021. Due to COVID-19, the tour did not visit any additional states.
